MS, CPDT-KA, CBCC-KA, UW-AAB, FDM, Fear-Free Certified - Owner of The Cooperative Canine, Virtual Trainer, In-Person Trainer
I became passionate about dog training in 2001 as an owner of a dog-reactive dog. I was searching for a mentor to help me
and my dog build a better relationship with each other, and the world around us. My mentor walked me through the science behind dog training, and together, we overcame the fear-based reactivity in my own dog. I was inspired by the positive reinforcement techniques I had learned and wanted to give others the gift of effective, force-free dog training.
I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and Behavior Consultant, as well as a member of the Pet Professional Guild (member number 48310054.) I’m always learning more about science-based training techniques at conferences and seminars around the country. I hold a certificate in applied animal behavior through the University of Washington. I am also an AKC CGC and Trick Dog Evaluator.
Our training sessions take place via Zoom, a user-friendly video conferencing platform. You’ll receive a link to join the session at your scheduled time. We’ll guide you step-by-step, observing your dog’s behavior in real time and coaching you on the best techniques to achieve your training goals.
All you need is a device with a camera (like a smartphone, tablet, or laptop), a stable internet connection, and a quiet space for training. Having treats, toys, and your dog’s leash or harness ready is also helpful for practice during the session.
Absolutely! Virtual training allows us to focus on coaching you—the person your dog learns from the most. With our expert guidance, you’ll feel confident addressing your dog’s needs and applying techniques in your home environment, where most behaviors occur.
No worries! We’ll provide simple instructions on how to join the Zoom session, and we’re happy to troubleshoot any issues before the session starts.
Private sessions, such as Basic Manners, Behavior Coaching, and Puppy Training, are typically 45–60 minutes long. Group Classes may vary depending on the program, but they generally run 60 minutes.
For severe behavioral concerns, such as aggression, we recommend starting with a Behavior Coaching session to assess your dog’s needs. From there, we can create a tailored plan and recommend additional resources if needed.
If you’re unsure, feel free to contact us! We’re happy to discuss your dog’s age, behavior, and training goals to recommend the best program for you.
It’s okay! Dogs have good and bad days, just like humans. We’ll adjust the session as needed, focusing on techniques and exercises you can practice later when your dog is more receptive.
Yes! We encourage everyone in your household to participate in the training, as consistency is key to your dog’s success.
Life happens! Just let us know at least 24 hours in advance, and we’ll work with you to find a new time that fits your schedule.
We offer a variety of group classes, from basic obedience to specialty topics like tricks and leash manners. Check our website for the current class schedule and descriptions.
